From supervising Oprah's first series for her new network in 2010 to cutting a Bar-Mitzvah video for the President of NBC/Universal...

from 100 episode series runs to cutting some of the most watched TV shows on the planet... it has been a wild ride!

Storytelling 101

In my mind, story is king. Everything begins with this simple fact.

Beyond that... nothing about creating story in the unscripted world is simple.

Working as a reality editor means working as a reality producer too.

Being able to watch 30 hours of raw footage and not only find but develop an interesting story is a valuable skill. Long format, multi-episode arcs take time and planning. Short form arcs have to pay off within an episode and have some sort of impact. More often than not, we are working backwards in reality; trying to fill in the blanks that were left empty in the field. As an editor, I have many tools at my disposal... in the end my most powerful tool has always been the ability to find & focus the story.

Technical Prowess

I am self-taught. I learned through practical and on-the-job experience. The best experience.

With nearly two decades running Media Composer I know it inside and out. I’m used to working independently and produce from raw more often than not. I have supervising experience running entire series but am more than happy as part of a team working on a single episode. I work in Photoshop and After Effects building original graphics and lower thirds. I score music and sound design. I am proficient with Boris, Sapphire, Moving Pictures, Script Sync, etc…

Pragmatic Solutions

Murphy's Law has never been so applicable as it is in reality TV. I have seen a lot go wrong and have seen how to fix it.  No matter how much we plan, schedule and backup there are always problems. Some are big, some are small... but all have to be dealt with to deliver a successful show.

I pride myself on not just being a problem solver but a problem preventer.

With all my time in the edit bay I have the practical experience to foresee and avoid many post production problems.
